Developing bioinformatics pipelines for microbiome data
We develop bioinformatics pipelines for microbiome data analysis and apply our expertise in metabolic modeling to better understand the impact of ingredients, food products, or probiotics. We work with food companies and producers, but also with healthcare and research institutions.
Translating your data into insights
Who do we work with?
We work with a diverse set of collaborators in the food, pharma and healthcare industries to bring out the best outcome.

Metabolic modeling framework
NIUM has specific expertise in the metabolic modeling of microbial communities. We create scalable modeling pipelines that enable efficient investigation of the pathway interactions inside these communities of organisms and how they contribute to health and disease. We have taken part in the development of CobrEXA and have created a proprietary extension for more efficient community modeling in High Performance Computing environments.
We analyze the impact of food ingredients on metabolism in vitro.
We have developed an in vitro platform that mimics the human gastrointestinal tract and allows to test ingredients, food products, probiotics, and drugs in vitro.
Gut-on-a-chip Technology
What does it support?
Our gut-on-a-chip technology is constantly being extended for other applications (e.g., cancer) but also tailor-made solutions based on our partner’s needs.
Food & ingredients
Pre & probiotics
Healthcare Institutions
What are the features of the gut-on-a-chip technology?
Fast stabilization times
Optimized operational costs
No downtime (maintenance)
Automated Sampling
Easily connecting patients and caregivers: the NUTRIDA solution
Support to oncology patients
We develop bioinformatics pipelines for microbiome data analysis and apply our expertise in metabolic modeling to better understand the impact of ingredients, food products, or probiotics. We work with food companies and producers, but also with healthcare and research institutions.
The main features of the app
It includes two functional components and a recipe database, adapted and designed to prevent cachexia, following main features
Meal recommendation engine
Food content management
Dietician access
NIUM is currently launching clinical trials in Luxembourg and in the US to validate the NUTRIDA solution.
